"My favorite thing about the library is the tissue box at the check-out desk!"

This was a 7th grade student's response to the question, "What's your favorite thing about the DRMS media center?" It continues to amaze me what students will notice and what they overlook. In my opinion, the media center should be an inviting and exciting place to explore. If a cool tissue box is what motivates some students to visit the media center, then I think that's a wonderful thing. This makes the media center memorable for this student, which motivates he or she to enter the door and provides an opportunity for the library media staff to encourage reading and media center use. And, let's face it, it is a cool tissue box. :-)
